Work
Since starting this practice in January 2022, I've taken on seventeen consulting engagements across Canadian democracy, Canadian climate, environmental philanthropy, international human rights, land conservation, UN policy, and adjacent civil-society sectors. -
2022–2025 HanVoice Human rights
Multi-year engagement to stand up an alternative international human rights fund for North Korean refugees. The Global Fund Initiative that resulted from this work drew more than USD $30M in pledges from six national governments, UN agencies, Human Rights Watch, and other funders during 2023–2024. Most of those pledges were withdrawn after the US policy shift in early 2025, which closed the National Endowment for Democracy and State Department funding streams that had underpinned the international donor base. HanVoice subsequently spun the surviving programmatic work into Kin Impact Fund, which continues the Canadian-led portion of the original design. A clear example of both the method working at international scale and the limits of what method alone can protect against when geopolitics changes the funding landscape.
